Post Thanksgiving Fatigue

So the turkey has been eaten, the mashed potatoes consumed, the brussel sprouts devoured and the pumpkin pie inhaled. Needless to say I am feeling just about as stuffed as the turkey. I am afraid to get on the scale to see what damage has been done. That is why I am SO excited to get my latest deal -- for just $65, that's right, $65 I can experience the Hypoxi Slimming Treatment AND wrap. Supposedly you lay down in this giant tube thing and it apparently tones and slims and works you muscles so you don't have to. All you have to do is lay there and relax and viola!! a toned slimmed and better you. Then comes the ginger wrap -- to get rid of all those nasty toxins, and then a scalp and face massage. The woman in the picture just looks so damn happy that I really think I have to do this. It just might be too bizarre to pass up. With Christmas coming, I just can't think of a better present for myself -- OK, maybe I can but not for $65.

So speaking of looking happy, I was laying on a lounge chair this weekend, chatting with my sister, who casually mentions that she made lobster for herself and her kids. That's right -- she took advantage of the $99 lobster dinner deal (plus mussels, plus crab cakes) for 2 and didn't even invite me over to share. Now, I asked you -- is that the sisterly thing to do. I would have invited her over, if only to throw the lobsters into the boiling water as I am not killing those things!!! Lucky for me, the deal is being offered again and knowing that I can just jump into my Hypoxi Slimming Treatment thingumabob I can happily eat all the lobster and crab I want. Whoo Hoo!!!

To Scuba or Not to Scuba -- That is the question

Whether it is better to swim under the sea or fly through the air like a bird. Both those options are viable as today brings not only the chance to partake in a scuba dive adventure but also to jump from a plane in a tandem sky dive. Now to be perfectly honest, I have consider both these things. The scuba diving I ruled out after my adventures with "snubaing" (a cross between snorkeling and scuba) in Hawaii. After practically piercing my ear drum -- and I wasn't even down that far -- I realize my dreams of being Ariel will have to be put on hold.  So I move on to consider sky diving. I have done para-sailing so isn't sky diving kinda like that but without the sail??? Hmmm. And I did have a lot of margaritas in me when I did the para-sailing so there's that. Not sure if they would let me chug a few before I went up in the plane. But hey, George Bush Sr has done it, so really how hard could it be. I have to think a little bit more about this one, still not sure that I ready to be up in the clouds.

So let's move on to more practical matters -- eye lash extensions. Now that is something I could really get excited about. I little flutter here, a coy look there..ah my lashes could take me places I never dreamed of before. Think Greta Garbo meets Oprah Winfrey -- the tales these lashes could tell. But how long do these lashes actually last?? Will I go back to the same old dull eyes once they come off? Think Cinderella without those glass slippers -- wasn't she just a boring housekeeper without those shoes. I don't think I could handle the rejection.

So I think today, I will just keep it simple. Maybe just a $5 off coupon at my local Thai place. I mean a bargain is still a bargain -- right.

Another Day, Another Groupon

My name is Carolyn and I am a flash sales junkie. There I said it – admitting it is the first step or so they say. I don’t know how it got this far. It started with one simple Groupon offer (I think it was for something at nursery (flowers not kids) and the next thing I know I was hooked. Now between Groupon, LA Deals, Amazon, Last Call, Haute Look, Ideeli – I’m a goner. So far I have purchased yoga classes, Botox, window cleaning services, cashmere sweaters, art, barre classes, rowing classes, acupuncture, massages, passes to an Korean day spa, the list goes on and on. I just can’t help myself. Who doesn’t like a good deal and there are just so many. And you have to “Act Now” or you get shut out. I still kick myself over the loss of a great framing deal. I watched enviously as another customer handed over her Groupon for 30% while I had to pay full price – oh the unfairness of it all.

So I am taking it one day at a time. Today it was merely more yoga classes – 5 for $30. I hesitated, I waited, as the time clicked by and finally I couldn’t stand it any longer. My inner downward dog was calling me – so I hit “Purchase”. Oh the joy, the elation, the 62% off. Magic.

We will see what tomorrow brings – a trip, wine tasting, an oil change – I mean I need these things anyway – right.

Stay tuned.
